Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is it anonymous?
Yes the survey is completely anonymous, we have no way of knowing who individual participants are, or where they live (other than the first, general part of your postcode) so you can answer honestly.

Can we get statistic for a group or school for our use?
Yes, each school taking part has a unique login that allows them to view the date, either baseline or baseline/follow up data in simple barchart format that can be further interrogated using simple 'clicks' to drill down the data in a number of ways such as by gender, ethnicity, vulnerability and postcode.

Schools can set up as many cohorts as they wish via their individual administration facility.

What happens to the information?
It is automatically analysed creating reports that you can access that help you gain a picture of what young people know, and need to know about drugs and alcohol issues.

The information is also collected centrally to help us with planning support and services for your area. This centrally collected data is anonymous, only represented by postcode (not by school) and will be shared with a number of partners to identify any local issues and to help them to support you better.

However, schools are welcome to share their data with partners if they wish, using it to identify priorities for their school and community. That is up to the individual school

What is a young person is telling us they are taking risks by the way they answer the questions – how can we help them if it is anonymous?
The survey has built in triggers; if a young person answers the survey in a way that suggests they are potentially at risk in some way, the survey will display support and help information, including the names and numbers of appropriate agencies, during the survey. These screens can be printed off by the young person.

NB: We also recommend that you display the agency information provided in the user download area directly after the survey
